Dr. Alicia Smith grew up in Colorado. She has always loved science, and decided on becoming a veterinarian after attending a program for middle school girls on careers in math and science. The live chinchilla brought by the veterinarian was a very convincing argument in favor of the profession.
Dr. Smith obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University. Following vet school, she started her career as an emergency medicine veterinarian in Salina, Kansas, along with teaching veterinary technician students during the daytime hours.
While she loves emergency and urgent care cases, Dr. Smith prefers getting to see pets during the daytime hours, and enjoyed general practice in Arizona prior to moving to Pennsylvania. Her other interests include preventative care and supportive medicine for pets with chronic conditions.
In her spare time, Dr. Smith enjoys crafting, reading mysteries, and yoga. She and her husband have a menagerie of small pets, including a chinchilla, two rabbits, two gerbils, a hamster, and a wide variety of fish.
