Digital Radiography
Safe Diagnostic Imaging for Pets
If your pet has an injury, or one of our veterinarians suspects there is an internal issue unable to be detected during a standard physical examination, we might recommend imaging. At Fort Washington Veterinary Hospital, we have a state-of-the-art digital radiography machine in-house which allows us to take x-rays of your pet’s organs, cardiopulmonary, gastrointestinal, reproductive, and urinary systems as they are needed.

The Benefits of Digital Radiography (X-rays)
Digital radiography is a key development in diagnostic imaging that helps improve patient care, supports better patient outcomes, expands our consultation capabilities, and enhances client interaction. The gold standard in the veterinary industry for over 15 years, digital X-ray requires much less radiation than older X-ray technology, therefore reducing exposure and keeping your pet safer.
We use X-rays to help us determine the condition of bones and joints and search for masses or foreign bodies (like a sock or toy). X-rays are also used to help us look for signs and/or progression of heart, lung and other diseases.
Digital X-rays are also commonly used during our dental procedures to uncover painful conditions that detract from your pet’s oral health. Bone loss, abscesses below the gum line and decaying teeth are typically discovered via use of X-rays.
